16 Days of Activism 2025 – A Call to Action Against Technology Facilitated Gender based Violence

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. This year, RoLAC is using the campaign to spotlight the rising threat of technology being used to harm, shame and silence women and girls. Working with the Federal Ministry of Justice and the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, RoLAC will convene the 11th Network Conference of Sexual Assault Referral Centers, bringing together justice actors, SARC teams, civil society and technology practitioners to rethink how protection and accountability must adapt in a digital world. The plan for this period is to deepen understanding of how online spaces enable abuse, strengthen partnerships, and push for policies and practices that safeguard rights both online and offline, while building the knowledge and tools needed to prevent and respond to technology facilitated gender based violence in Nigeria.  Want to Learn More about Technology Facilitated Gender Based Violence?

GUARDIANS OF THE GRID CAMPAIGN

Every day, people are stalked, intimidated, threatened, shamed and silenced through their phones, socialmedia and messaging apps. Screenshots become weapons, group chats turn into mob attacks, and a single post can unleash waves of abuse. Tech-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) is real violence with real-life consequences. If we’re honest about how we may have been part of the problem,

This #16DaysOfActivism2025, you can join Her Story Our Story Nigeria; TechSocietalTechHerNG and Dataphyte Foundation to make the internet a safer place.
