Welcome to
#HerStoryOurStoryNG
Sexual and gender-based violence has become so widespread in Nigeria that its actual daily occurrence as well as the ever-present fear of being assaulted that women and girls face, have become normalized.
The #HerStoryOurStoryNG campaign seeks to challenge the persistent cycle of sexual and gender-based violence in Nigeria.

Directory of SARCs
Currently, there are ONLY 47 Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) across 22 states (plus the FCT) which provide free
medical, counselling and support services to survivors of sexual violence. in Nigeria.
All these Centres need more funding commitment from their state governments to continue delivering services to the public, free of charge; and states that don’t have a SARC need government commitment to establish one.
Over 50,000 people have used the services of a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (from July 2013 – Oct 2024).
Data about Sexual Assault Referral Centres
Since the first Sexual Assault Referral Center (SARC) opened in 2013, over 50,000 survivors have received care across 47 SARCs by October 2024.
You can download our analysis of data from all SARCs. These data provide the basis for planning policy and changing practice by government, CSOs and other stakeholders
